KD-X444S Provides Tools Necessary to Master 4K HDR Extension
Key Digital’s Proprietary Full Buffer Technology suite updated for high demand video needs MOUNT VERNON, NY – December 16, 2020 – Key Digital, the leaders in digital video and control systems, shines a spotlight on its flagship fully equipped 18 Gbps HDBaseT HDMI extender set, the KD-X444S for distance requirements of 4K up to 40m and 1080P up to 70m. The feature set and powerful built-in tools in the KD-X444S have been specially engineer for AV integrators to provide everything needed for reliable HDMI signal extension. KD-X444S is a go-to solution for extending 4K 60 fps content with HDR, alongside Key Digital’s wide assortment of 4K 18Gbps products. This specific HDMI extender set gained popularity because of the ability to extend HDMI over a single CAT 5e/6 cable, making it ideal for retrofit applications where running a new wire behind walls may not be possible. KD-X444S utilizes visually lossless compression to achieve extension of bandwidths that was previously not possible over HDBaseT extension. Unlike competitive products also using compression, the engineers at Key Digital further developed the technology to include 10G pass-thru mode which enables incoming signals with 10.2Gbps bandwidth or less to be extended without being subjected to compression. KD-X444S features IR sensor powering via +5V on IR input ports to collect line-of-sight IR from remote(s) without an external IR connecting block. Two channels of IR and bi-directional RS-232 enable control to/from devices or control systems connected to the transmitter and receiver units. CEC Pass-thru for inter-device control between input and output HDMI channels is also supported. This extender set has compliancy up to HDCP 2.2 and backward compliant and features High Dynamic Range (HDR10). Key Digital’s HDR10 delivery is handled as part of its proprietary Full-Buffer Technology (FBT) which manages TMDS re-clocking / signal re-generation, HDCP authentication with source and display, EDID Control handshake, and Hot Plug Detection control on both the source and display. Key Digital boasts an internal library with 16 EDID handshakes including an update to 4K handshakes which includes HDR Header information. Native EDID data from the connected output/display device may be provided to the video source. Integrators have the choice of handshake delivered to the connected video source. When in the field, integrators find the conscientiously designed EDID and control dial on the unit an extremely useful tool to tell their connected source exact video and audio formatting needed. They simply need to turn a rotary dial to adjust formatting selections, compared to the previously arduous alternative of formatting in the setup menu of the connected source devices which was previously necessary when HDR was not part of that handshake KD-X444S utilizes HDBaseT via single CAT5e/6 UTP/STP extension with fully automatic adjustment of feedback, equalization, and amplification depending on cabling length. The extender set offers UHD/4K support 4096x2160 or 3840x2160 24/25/30/60hz at 4:4:4 with signals up to 18Gbps bandwidth and offers flexible power over HDBaseT with only one power connection needed with the transmitter providing power to the receiver, or the receiver powering the transmitter. The KD-X444S features a low-profile super slim chassis design with Key Digital’s KD-SMS16 universal rack mount shelf offering a perfect mounting option.
